Maddy Harward, Ashley Watson and Mandy Patterson at the presentation.  The kids did a beautiful program and did an awesome job!

That is 2,268 books!  Amazing job!  We hope to work with Middle Creek next year too!

Pair by pair,
book by book,
only a small gesture,
that is all it took.

Thanks for taking the time to look at our page.

Pajama Pals is an organization whose purpose is to help give NEW pajamas and a book to children who have been recently placed in foster care, are living in homeless shelters or who are in a medical facility for an extended period of time.

Many children who are taken from a home are in an emergency situation where they aren’t able or allowed to take things with them. Sometimes it is something as small as a pair of pajamas that is theirs, that will keep them warm, which will show that someone out there loves them. The books can be something that can help open that line of communication with the foster family or it can be something new that the child can treasure and remember.

As of now, we are collecting NEW pajamas of all sizes, new and gently used books to distribute throughout our local area. All donations will stay in North Carolina.

Pajama Pals

We are currently collecting NEW pajamas of all sizes
(0-3 months to Adult XXL) as  well as New or Gently Loved Books.

Contact us today if you have a donation or if your group would like to do a drive for Pajama Pals and your donation will be distributed to a child in need.

Give a Day, Get a Day with Disney!

Amazing!  We have been approved to work with the Give a Day, Get a Day at Disney program.  In 4 days I have received over 300 emails and several dozen calls.  I am working very hard to get back to everyone.  I am adding a tab here so volunteers can get examples of flyers we have used in the past.  I am also going to put any links you may need here.  Please know, if you haven’t heard from me yet, I am working hard to get back to you!

https://disneyparks.delivery.net/disney-day/signup.html?_=eyJ0IjoiMWIiLCJpZCI6MTEwMzMsIm4iOiJQYWphbWEgYW5kIEJvb2sgRHJpdmUiLCJpIjoia2lkcyIsImQiOiJ7IFwibG9nZ2VkSW5cIjowLFwibG9jYWxlXCI6XCJlbl9VU1wiIH0ifQ%3D%3D

Thank you so much!  We aren’t just going to reach our goal of 10,000 items by March, but we could easily reach 20,000 items by the end of 2010!  Keep checking back for more!

December Updates!!!

December is always a great month but in 2009, December was amazing.  We had so many people that helped us distribute over 1,400 items to children in need!

Here is a small breakdown of the wonderful people who helped Pajama Pals since our last update.

  • At our Chick-fil-A night we had a GREAT turn out!  We collected 214 books.  Mr. Cow paid a visit to the kids and lots of people found out about Pajama Pals!  Katie Ward also won the Raffle basket that included 2 Carolina Hurricanes game tickets and a Harris Teeter / Hurricanes gift bag.  Congrats Katie!  (Tickets and gift bag were generously donated by the Carolina Hurricanes – Go Canes!)
  • Dr. Robert Elliott and Dr. Julie Molina (along with the wonderful staff at Cary Pediatric Dentistry) donated toothbrushes and toothpaste for the 2nd year in a row.
  • Dr. C. Ashley Mann and the great folks at their office donated over 200 tubes of toothpaste.
  • The Town of Cary allowed us to be their charity that they collected money for at Santa’s Workshop.  We received $239.06 that we immediately used to purchase pajamas and books.
  • The Town of Apex and Mr. Karl Lyon allowed us to come to the Apex Turkey Trot for the 2nd year in a row.  We met so many great people and collected 103 books and 41 pairs of pajamas!
  • The 2nd grade at Weatherstone Elementary did a one week pajama drive the last week before Christmas break.  They had a great response!  67 pairs of pajamas and 203 books.  They did a great job!
  • My dear friend Courtney Weller and her Sunday School Class surprised me with a great donation of 12 pajamas and 228 books!  What a great surprise to get in an email.
  • Special thanks to Jennifer Rhyne who mailed a donation of Pajamas and Books after seeing an update on Facebook.  Also, thanks go to Krista and Suzanna Martin.  They generously collected pajamas and books for Suzanna’s birthday party.  Happy Birthday Sweet girl!
  • We had 2 Guides and Princess Tribes help us out recently.  Huge thanks to the guides and princesses of the Colorful Kittens and the Sneaky Barefooters!  How! How!
  • Junior Girl Scout Troop 990 did an amazing job collecting 197 books and 11 pairs of pajamas.  Thank you girls!  I got the pleasure of meeting these girls and some of the moms and they were wonderful.

Because of all of these people who took their time to collect donations for Pajama Pals, we were able to help deliver over 1,400 items to children in need.  Most children got 1 pair of pajamas and 2 new books.  Last year we gave used books but because of donations of new books or monetary donations we were able to give new books.

Thanks to everyone who has donated, told a friend about Pajama Pals and just helped spread the word!  Together we are helping children one night at a time.  There are children out there that are warmer tonight because of your generosity.

Middle Creek Book Drive

Middle Creek had the

ir 2nd annual Book Drive between December 8th and December 18th.  In just 10 days the children were able to collect 2,268 books!  On the 18th they did a presentation of books and did an awesome job telling all the parents about Pajama Pals and telling them about the books they collected.  The children learned about the spirit of giving but they also counted each book that came in!

Special thanks to Maddy Harward (Kindergarten), Ashley Watson (2nd grade), Chas Miller (Principal) and the Media Center.  We are looking forward to working with them again next year!
